Rochester & New York: Rochester Theaters

Listing - Basic Geva TheatreCenter is Rochester's professional regional theater. New plays, classics, and musicals are featured on the main stage, while the Nextstage space offers newer works.
The 2005-2006 season opens with a world premiere of The Road Home: Re-Membering America, by Marc Wolf. Geva is at 75 Woodbury Blvd.; 232-4382; www.gevatheatre.org.

Downstairs Cabaret Theatre has staged such long-running productions as the musical I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change and the office satire The Water Coolers. It features topical shows and has multiple offerings at any one time. Downstairs Cabaret Theatre's main location is 20 Windsor St.; 325-4370; www.downstairscabaret.com.

Rochester Broadway Theater Leaguebrings traveling Broadway shows to Rochester. The 2005-2006 season features My Fair Lady (Oct. 11-16), Peter Pan (Nov. 15-20), Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Dec. 13-18), Dame Edna (Feb. 14-19,) and The Lion King (March 9-April 16). RBTL shows are at Auditorium Theatre, 885, E. Main St; 222-5000; www.rbtl.org

Blackfriars Theatre is a community theater that mounts major shows at 28 Lawn St. in the East End cultural district; (585) 454-1260; www.blackfriars.org.

Shipping Dock Theatre stages new (sometimes fringe) shows that are always thought-provoking. It can be found at the Visual Studies
Workshop auditorium at 31 Prince St.; 232-2250; www.shippingdocktheatre.org.
